Palo Alto

Palo Alto is an interesting place. Not too much to do in the city. And that is strange since it's a college town, home to Stanford University. Everything around here closes at 9 p.m.

But since we've been here we have seen all the neighboring cities. We've been to San Francisco three or four times. We've been to the Santa Cruz boardwalk, Half-Moon Bay, Santa Clara, San Jose, Oakland, and Saulsilito.

What really was noticeable to me was the availability of land here in northern California. There is still a ton of space in which to grow. But people, still drive in traffic for two hours to and from work in San Francisco. That really blows me away.

As loan officers, we at least get to work at home most of the time. Unless you work at a bank, then you have to go to the office everyday. Sucks for you bankers.

They both have their own charm. Working at home, you get to avoid traffic. But working at the office brings more professionalism to your work. Both have their distractions. At home it's the TV and the kids. At work it's your co-workers.

I prefer a mixture of the two. You can't work from home everyday. You get lazy. Three days at the office and two at home make a good mix. If you can talk your manager into let you telecommunte, you should at least try. There's nothing better then answering emails in your pajamas. :)
